Preparing for the SAT can feel overwhelming, but we’ve made it simple. Below are answers to the most common questions students ask about the SAT and our PrepRoom classes — from how our training works to what counts as a high score and how to register for the actual exam
Our SAT classes are hybrid, combining online lessons during the week with in-person sessions at our Tema Centre. This flexible model allows students across Ghana to participate while still receiving personal, hands-on support from our tutors.
Don’t worry ,most of our students start with little or no SAT experience. Before classes begin, we conduct a diagnostic test to assess your current level in English and Math. This helps us understand your strengths and weaknesses and create a personalized learning plan that focuses on the areas you need most support in.
Yes — when done right. Our 3-month SAT program is designed to cover all sections of the exam through focused lessons, consistent practice, and progress tracking. With regular attendance and effort, most students see significant score improvements within this period. Students are also encouraged to continue light revision afterward until test day.
Not exactly. While both exams test reasoning and problem-solving, the SAT focuses more on logic, analysis, and application rather than memorization. The Math section includes algebra, data analysis, and problem-solving in English, while the Reading and Writing section emphasizes comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary in context. That’s why specialized SAT preparation at QA PrepRoom is essential — we teach the specific skills and strategies that the WASSCE curriculum doesn’t focus on.
We use a targeted and interactive approach, breaking down complex topics, reviewing real SAT-style questions, and focusing on test strategies. Students complete regular practice tests and timed drills to improve accuracy, speed, and confidence before the exam.
All practice and lessons are conducted using digital tools so students are familiar with the real testing environment. We train students using the College Board Bluebook app, teach effective digital test strategies, and ensure they’re fully confident navigating the new online format.
Our classes are taught by experienced SAT instructors and 99th-percentile tutors who specialize in SAT prep. With a team based in both Ghana and the USA, we combine local insight with international teaching standards to deliver modern, results-driven learning.
No. QA PrepRoom offers training classes only. The official SAT exam is administered by the College Board at approved test centers in Ghana.
SAT classes prepare you for the exam — teaching strategies, practice techniques, and digital readiness — while the exam itself is conducted separately by the College Board.
No. The PrepRoom class fee covers your training and materials. The exam registration fee ($111 USD) is paid directly to the College Board when you register online.
It’s not advised. Since the SAT is now a digital exam, students should have access to a laptop or computer for both PrepRoom classes and the actual test. Practicing digitally helps you get used to the real exam format.
We recommend starting at least 3 months before your test date to build confidence and improve your score steadily.
The SAT is scored on a 400–1600 scale (English and Math combined).
Each year, millions of students apply to universities abroad, so a high SAT score helps you stand out, qualify for scholarships, and increase your chances of getting into your dream school abroad.
The Ivy League refers to eight prestigious universities in the USA known for their academic excellence, history, and global reputation — Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania. Admission is extremely competitive, and most accepted students score between 1480–1580 on the SAT.
Attending an Ivy League university can set you up for life. These schools provide world-class education, unmatched networking opportunities, and access to influential alumni networks. Many top global companies, law firms, and international organizations actively recruit Ivy League graduates, and their degrees are highly valued in postgraduate programs and leadership roles worldwide.
Yes. Most universities abroad — especially in the USA, UK, and Canada — require an SAT score in addition to your WASSCE results for admission and scholarships.
Yes. While the SAT measures your academic potential, universities also review your WASSCE results to understand your overall academic background and consistency in high school.
